Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September. 21 in 1983) is an acclaimed American actor. Particularly, she was the character Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV show and Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington, Ohio and dropped out of school when her parents separated to go to Los Angeles to live with her mother. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite financial struggles, she was able to secure her first big part in the web-based video show Rachel's Room as the main character. In the following year, she was awarded an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002, for her role as fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford's character she played in Lost from 2004 until 2005 was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace decided to concentrate on film after starring opposite Tom Welling's character in The Fog, in 2005. She is part of the Gyllenhaal clan and the younger sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. She began her career in the teen years with minor parts in a few of the films of her father and starred together with her brother in cult favorite Donnie Darko (2001). Her next roles were in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, both 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her leading roles in Secretary (2002 an erotic romantic drama) as well as Sherrybaby (606), both of which earned the actress Golden Globe Award nods. She had several films that were commercially successful, including World Trade Center. However it was her performance in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her wider attention in The Dark Knight (2008).
